You can easily create the right system to fit the exact operational requirements and needs of a client. The intuitive maps-feature in AXIS Site Designer allows you to add floorplans or maps of the target site, so you can place cameras and devices and view the coverage they will provide. This means all requirements are met, including eliminating any issues such as blind spots before implementation. AXIS Site Designer is the only tool you will need for design of surveillance systems going from a design draft to project completion. This intuitive tool simplifies and streamlines your design, quotation, and installation workflow, making projects faster and easier to create, revise or implement. It lets you efficiently manage any project—whether you need to create a system with thousands of Axis devices connected to it or just a few.

It is an imaginary straight line that specifies the point at which constructions or objects rotate. We’re an online magazine dedicated to covering the best in international product design. We have a passion for the new, innovative, unique and undiscovered. Community centre design has been the focus of our work for much of this year, with one project just completed in Cotteridge Park and two more about to start on site at Witton Lakes and Edgbaston Reservoir. You can type inside the circles, or use a series of radial designs or dilatational designs. Start by hand, laying out the kind of structure that you want.

Fill a column with your text at your text size and count the number of lines that fit. Adjust the boundaries of the composition so that the top border lines up with the ascenders on the top line and that the bottom border lines up with the descenders on the last line. Sometimes you’ll want to use concentric circles to keep the type spaced well. Other times, though, you can use slightly varied centers; this creates a more organic—albeit a less organized—appearance.

This television may turn toward either side of the wall because it has a real central axis and a pole. The television’s equal sides are symmetrical on either side of the axis. Humans tend to gravitate toward the center of attention when presented with a linear object. The pathway will signal the start of our stroll when we reach the road and meet the footpath next to it.

How to create a modular design

When you read radial, you probably think of the sun, and that’s no mistake. To create a radial design, pick a central focal point, and place all the content so that it radiates out from that point. Most of the time, you won’t actually have a big fat line running across your page, instead, you’ll just imply your axis with text. I’d bet anything that you haven’t seen any designs using an axial layout system, or a transitional system. How do you identify axis in architecture?

Seattle architects AXIS/GFA design the Pacific Northwest's TRAD Apartments in Shoreline, Washington. AXIS/GFA's Los Angeles studio's design of this property won the developer a Marriott International Development of the Year award. A complete hotel transformation and reflagging, this project saw AXIS/GFA contribute to the renovation of a late 1980's Courtyard by Marriott in SOMA, San Francisco into an Autograph Collection boutique hotel. Any object or structure that has two similar shapes when a central line passes through it is said to be symmetrical.

When laid out along a particular axis, the pattern emerges as expected. We prefer orderly settings in axis alignment because they give off an impression of steadiness, comfort, and friendliness. The usage of an axis or focal point in architecture is similar to a straight arrow on a sign, leading the observer in the desired direction. Working directly with Architects or developing all designs in house. We’re delighted to report that our entry for the Euroclad competition has been awarded a commendation. This was the last collaboration between Tony and Rob before Tony’s untimely death, so it seems particularly fitting that it might achieve an award.

In architecture, adjacency refers to where various departments and organizations are located in proximity to each other within the courthouse. Courthouses attract fairly large volumes of public and employee traffic. A large courthouse in an urban setting may accommodate thousands of people during an average day. We intricately handle every component of the design process from conceptual to execution making us a complete design and build firm. Axis Design is a leading designer of a multi-disciplinary firm that works across Architecture, Interior, Landscape & turnkey solution.

For posters and book covers, though, they can definitely work. Some of the world’s best designs and designers used grid layouts almost exclusively. Massimo Vignelli and Josef Muller-Brockmann advocated its use above all other systems. Learning to create a good grid layout takes some math, some preparation, and heavy dose of discipline.

He is currently involved in numerous projects, including converting existing office and commercial space into multifamily housing. This multi-family residential architectural design project saw the design of 50 residences and over 5,000 square feet of commercial space. This mixed-use multi-family residential architectural design project saw the design of 50 residences and over 5,000 square feet of commercial space.

We enjoy the work and are committed to finding win/win solutions to often conflicting demands. Dan Fohn, AIA, brings 9 years of industry experience and both a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Studies from Iowa State University to our Seattle studio as one of the firm’s new Project Architects. Citing problem solving as one of the most fulfilling aspects of his job, Dan knew from an early age that architecture was his lifelong calling.

San Francisco architect AXIS/GFA are the hotel designers of this new Bay Area hotel, featuring hyper-local inspired design and community environmental considerations. A significant hotel renovation project, AXIS/GFA’s Los Angeles studio oversaw the conversion and reflagging of an existing select-service Doubletree by Hilton property into a full-service Hilton hotel. The axial plan is a very common way of organizing a campus master plan. The basic idea is to have a central axis or space around which buildings are arranged.

They said before the vote that they opposed unfettered aid to Israel that could be used in its offensive in Gaza. The opposition to the Israel aid represented a minority of Democrats, but reflected the deep resistance to unconditional aid and the divisions in the party on Gaza. Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland represented a notable new “no” vote among Democrats, and other standouts included Representatives Donald S. Beyer Jr. of Virginia, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon and John Garamendi of California. Explore the six buildings on the Martin House estate with ample time for a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience. A pergola connects the home to a conservatory and carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, while a smaller residence and gardener’s cottage sit nearby. Over the decades, the complex suffered considerable damage and three of the original five buildings were destroyed, but in 1992, the Martin House Restoration Corporation was formed to raise funds and oversee a complete restoration. Extensive reconstruction efforts began in 1997 and are ongoing today, but visitors can now experience the property on a variety of tours.

Architect Ken Ungar, whose portfolio largely features high-end modern farmhouse-style residences, will design a home for the couple, Architectural Digest reported. The property, which is just across the street from Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, will also feature a three-car garage and a secondary unit near the pool.

Still, 37 “no” votes, while a break from Washington’s ironclad support for the Jewish state, fell short of the opposition bloc progressives had hoped to muster. Thirty-nine Democrats had voted “no” on Friday on the rule to allow the foreign aid package to come to the House floor, a target that progressives just missed on Saturday on the Israel bill. Fourteen of those Democrats voted on Saturday in favor of aid to Israel, while 12 Democrats who voted to allow the package on the floor on Friday then cast votes against the funding itself. Built between 1903 and 1905, the Martin House was designed by acclaimed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as the city home for Buffalo business executive Darwin D. Martin and his family.

We understand that as seniors, you’re looking for a budget-friendly place to call home, and we’re here to provide just that. With a host of features and benefits that are well-suited to meet your needs, Martin House at Adamsville ensures you can live comfortably and independently. Photos are fairly scarce, but on-line listings show a living room anchored by a corner fireplace sporting a marble surround, along with a spacious dining room/workspace that sits adjacent to a kitchen outfitted with newer stainless appliances. A hallway leads to the bedrooms, which include a primary suite boasting a private balcony and spa-inspired bath. The city’s SurveyLA program had identified the property as potentially historic, but no protections were afforded, the conservancy wrote on Instagram. An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified the political party of a group of representatives who notably voted “no” on new aid for Israel.

Polychrome Historic District

I personally am thinking of relocating to this area for cheaper housing and great culture. During this Targaryen Civil War, George R.R. Martin killed off half the population of Westeros and, as noted previously, nearly every member of the blondest family. However, the HBO series has already tweaked parts of the book, so there’s no reason to believe that everything will go down as Martin wrote in the lore. Queen Alicent and Otto Hightower will definitely begin to see consequences of their long game, and Rhaenyra will be coming for the Iron Throne with Blood and Cheese (wait for them, oh boy) paving the way. With that said, this series has been plotted out for four seasons, and that plan could change, but it’s unlikely that we will see the entire war take place in Season 2. Hopefully, we will at least see the inevitable showdown between Daemon and (Mini-Me) Aemond, and if that plot point follows the Fire and Blood book, both men should be very afraid.

The plan, laid out in a rule that passed on Friday, was concocted to capitalize on the pools of support for each part of the $95 billion package, while preventing opposition to any one piece from taking down all of them. The House passed a long-stalled foreign aid package on Saturday that gives funding to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, with a majority of lawmakers backing money for American allies across the globe. The package, which now goes to the Senate, is almost certain to become law. Frank Lloyd Wright’s connection to Arizona, the location of his personal winter home Taliesin West, runs deep, with his architectural influence seen all over the Valley. Here, PhD student David R. Richardson gives a brief overview of several of Wright’s most notable projects in the Grand Canyon state.

Each of our one- and two-bedroom apartments is a roomy home that you can truly make your own. Complete with a full kitchen, ample storage space, and modern amenities throughout, you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing living experience. Chris Pratt has drawn ire from architecture aficionados after news broke that the actor and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, had razed a historic, mid-century modern home to make way for a sprawling 15,000-sq-ft mansion. Twenty-five Republicans voted against the fourth bill, which included measures that could lead to a ban on TikTok in the United States and that would redirect funds from seized Russian assets to help aid Ukraine. Democrats put up a big vote — 174 — in favor of this bill, which was intended to sweeten the overall package for conservatives.

In addition to the spaces visited on the Martin House tour, the Plus Tour takes visitors inside the additional Wright-designed residences on the estate. Explore the Barton House, the first Prairie house built on the site for Martin’s sister and her family, and the Gardener’s Cottage, where you will see Wright’s concept for affordable housing beautifully executed. Along the way, your docent will expand on the Martin/Wright story to provide a more detailed context for these architectural masterpieces. Explore the grounds of the estate during this interactive audio tour, designed to be experienced on site. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1903 for a wealthy businessman, the Martin House is one of Buffalo’s architectural masterpieces. Situated in the beautiful Parkside neighborhood, it stands out among the restored Victorian homes and canopy of old-growth trees for its Prairie house style, complete with strong horizontal lines, deeply overhanging eaves, and a sheltering, cantilevered roof.

First, Daemon must zoom around Westeros to gather as many houses as possible for that fight. I suspect that the strategy set-up will take up much of this second season, but unlike with the book, Rhaenyra might even leave Dragonstone to participate. And we will literally see fire rain down from the sky when the two sides have to force allegiance from reluctant settlements. Todd said the fire happened on Meathouse Road in the Pilgrim community. Potentially a sizable return on investment when it comes to real estate. Welcome to Martin House at Adamsville, an income-based, senior apartment community located just outside the heart of Atlanta.

Video of the property from December 2022 shows a light-filled home that appears to have been well-preserved, with large windows, wood floors and mid-century furniture. It was abandoned, partially demolished, and neglected in the period following the Martins’ life there. With the resolve of many, an ambitious restoration effort to save this treasure began in earnest in 1992 and was completed in 2019. Today, Martin House stands as a compelling symbol of civic identity and cultural pride. It is a National Historic Landmark and a premier heritage destination within New York State’s network of historic sites.

Approximately 27,000 blocks were used in the construction, which were cast by hand, on-site, with an aluminum mold and made out of gravel, granite, sand (from the site) and water. It took ten days for each block to fully dry and cure before it could be used. Brilliantly proportioned rooms flow effortlessly from one to another.

Tour

Built in the early 1960s and recently given a contemporary makeover, the all-white structure is nestled amid a grassy parcel of land spanning almost three-quarters of an acre. Described by Wright as a “domestic symphony,” the Martin House is a comprehensive residential estate. The property includes the main dwelling, a secondary house, a gardener’s cottage, and a series of interconnected buildings woven together within an integrated landscape. Art glass, furnishings, and other creative design elements—all conceived by Wright—give rise to a bold new vision of the home as a total work of art. Built in 1924 and occupying a majestic Los Feliz hilltop with staggering views from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean, this remarkable property has undergone years of thoughtful restoration at a cost of nearly $17 million.

Wright himself referred to the Martin House as “the opus” and kept the site plan pinned to his drawing table for close to fifty years. Though he already owns one Los Angeles home, Martin Short has plumped up his real estate portfolio with yet another residence. Originally listed in March for around $2.4 million, Short scored a slight deal on the property.

Today the Martin House has been completely-restored to its former magnificence in the most ambitious restoration of a Frank Lloyd Wright site ever undertaken. Three of the original elements — the pergola, conservatory and carriage house, which were demolished decades ago – are rebuilt in the first-ever reconstruction of Wright buildings. Although the movie isn’t set in the picturesque seaside town, director Emerald Fennell has said that the name—which refers in the movie to a sprawling country estate—was inspired by the North Yorkshire location. On Saltburn-by-the-Sea and growing interest in the area from out-of-towners, investors and creatives, Saltburn is having a bit of a moment. The single-story home and its grounds have since been cleared and in its place will be a massive home in the modern farmhouse style that has come to dominate US suburbs. While all Democrats voted in favor of aid to Ukraine and all but Ms. Tlaib supported funding to Taiwan, 37 left-leaning Democrats defected to vote against the Israel aid bill.

The lost structures were rebuilt, and the Martin House was painstakingly restored to its original, nigh-perfect beauty. The interior spaces of the historic houses are accessible on guided tours. Constructed between 1903 and 1905, the estate attracts visitors from all over the world to Buffalo, New York – a city full of early 20th-century masterworks from some of the world’s most famous architects.

There are many ways to support the Martin House – become a member, attend a fundraiser, support an education program, shop in our store, or fund an art glass window. No matter how you give, you are advancing our mission to preserve, interpret, promote, and sustain the Martin House for future generations. The Statler Café is located off Summit Avenue on the north end of the estate. You are welcome to come explore the landscape and the exterior of the buildings.

The so-called Samuel Freeman house is made from 12,000 concrete bricks, which incorporated sand from the hillside sloping down below it. These are assembled in the “textile block” style, which evokes the appearance of quilted stone. Samuel and Harriet Freeman fell in love with Wright’s architecture as guests at the Hollyhock House. Are there ways to prevent motion sickness?

It’s no coincidence that the root of the word “nausea” is naus, the Greek word for “ship.” Motion sickness is a common ailment — especially on boats. Your eyes sense relative stillness, but your balance and position centers sense motion. The mechanism that the body uses to determine motion and orientation becomes confused, and the result is an upset stomach, belching, nausea, vomiting, headache and sweating. Breathing in the salty sea breeze can help alleviate seasickness symptoms and provide a calming effect. Additionally, limit your intake of alcoholic beverages to avoid seasickness on a cruise. Alcohol can dehydrate you and amplify the effects of motion sickness, making it more likely for you to feel unwell.

Planning Your Cruise Perfectly Can Also Help Prevent Seasickness

Whether you are a first-time cruiser or have dealt with motion sickness in the past, this guide will help you prepare for a smooth and enjoyable cruise experience. In this post, I share 10 ways to prevent, treat and ideally avoid seasickness altogether while cruising. I’ve included recommendations for seasickness medications, as well as natural remedies that really work. The over-the-counter medication promises to prevent nausea, dizziness, and vomiting.

If you start to feel queasy, stop what you’re doing and head for an exterior deck. They fit comfortably around your wrist and have adjustable pressure settings. It’s essential to wear them before you begin feeling symptoms of seasickness though, so be sure to put them on before setting sail. Whether you opt for medications or natural remedies, finding the right intervention for managing motion sickness can greatly enhance your comfort during the cruise. Experiment with different options to discover what works best for you and enjoy a more pleasant and nausea-free voyage.

Patches are typically placed behind your ear where the medication can more easily absorb into your skin. Since the patches are hidden, you don’t have to worry about them distracting from your dinnerware wardrobe or photos from your shore excursions. Similarly, the bands are worn on the wrist and target pressure points to help stabilize your body. These products are usually waterproof so no need to remove them before enjoying the pools on board. Some people use over-the-counter medication tablets, such as Dramamine or Bonine.

Dramamine Motion Sickness Chewables

While there are prescription medicines that can treat motion sickness, mild to severe episodes can be treated with over-the-counter medicines. But how do you choose the right sea sickness medicine when there are so many options available? We’ve put together this detailed buying guide to simplify your choice so you can pick the perfect sea sickness medicine for your needs. Remember to pack these essential items in a carry-on bag or easily accessible area, as you may need them during the embarkation process or even before the ship sets sail. By being well-prepared and having these items on hand, you’ll be equipped to manage any motion sickness symptoms that may arise and fully enjoy your cruise experience. In this article, we will explore various factors that contribute to motion sickness on a cruise and provide practical tips and techniques to prevent and alleviate the symptoms.

Ginger Rescue

To adapt to life on a cruise ship, consider spending ample time on the open deck, using the horizon as a reference point to maintain your balance. Medications have been developed over time to prevent feelings of nausea and sickness from the motion on the sea. I tried applying extra pressure to the plastic studs myself, and after about an hour the feeling improved.

If you’re concerned about getting seasick, avoid trans-Atlantic crossings and other itineraries where the seas can be fierce. They mean well, but on some cruises you’ll feel more movement then others, so it’s best to be prepared. The tips that I share below will help you to manage any seasickness symptoms. This dependable remedy is available without a prescription and can be very effective against nausea, according to Dr. Frank Contacessa, internist at MDVIP in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. “They can help with nausea; the most common side effect is drowsiness,” he advises. Harnessing the power of real ginger (with a higher concentration of active ginger compounds than other brands), these tablets are able to relieve nausea, gas, and indigestion.

There’s no proven effectiveness to these natural remedies, but some cruisers swear by eating ginger, green apples or crackers and tout them as the best seasickness remedies. When it comes to finding the best prevention method, keep in mind that every person and their response to medication or treatment is unique. Don’t compare yourself to others, as the best remedy for seasickness will be unique to you and your body. Some cruisers find success with a motion sickness patch, while others rely on home remedies like tea. Luckily, cruise lovers have an array of options for seasickness prevention, from medicines and seasickness patches to Sea-Bands and even cabin-booking tricks that can alleviate motion sickness. While aboard, minimize time performing head-fixed activities such as knitting, reading and working on a computer.

However, for some people, the anticipation of motion sickness can overshadow the excitement. Motion sickness, also known as seasickness, is a common issue that can affect cruise-goers of all ages. Over-the-counter medications like Dramamine, Meclizine (also known as Bonine) or diphenhydramine (commonly called Benadryl) can also help prevent or alleviate seasickness.

“It works well, with the most common side effects being dry mouth and dizziness. This is only available by prescription, so you have to ask your doctor to prescribe it. The ReliefBand takes a high-tech approach to managing the symptoms of motion sickness.

If you're like us and spinning like a girl in a brand new dress just thinking about it, here's everything you need to know about this Taylor Swift cruise.

In an article from Forbes, contributors note that Generation Z and Millennials are the most concerned about the impacts of climate change. That being said, there is limited discourse amongst her fans regarding her carbon emissions. In the fall of 2024, the Taylor Swift Cruise will leave Miami for a 4-day Swifty party out at sea. The fan-sponsored event is in partnership with Royal Caribbean and Marvelous Mouse Travels. The ship will dock at Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean’s private island, on the second day of the sailing, followed by a stop in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, on day three.

Attendees are also expected to dress to match each night’s different album theme. Additionally, the cruise will make stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, as well as Nassau, Bahamas. The itinerary will feature a welcome cocktail party and give passengers the opportunity to swap friendship bracelets, which has become a common practice at her concerts. Guests can also take part in themed activities like karaoke, trivia and a dance party, though details are still being finalized. Travel agents for Marvelous Mouse Travels, and also major Taylor fans, will host the trip and plan "Swiftie" events all five days of sailing. The cruise will celebrate everything-Taylor, from thousands of friendship bracelets to costumes in her different eras.

The cruise is not endorsed by or affiliated with Swift or her tour but is organized through Marvelous Mouse Travels’ advisors and “Royal Caribbean specialists,” according to the event’s website. Swifties will soon be able to get out of the woods and onto the water for a special Taylor Swift–themed cruise experience. Nathan Diller is a consumer travel reporter for USA TODAY based in Nashville.

Keep in mind that you have to be 21 years or older to book a stateroom and must pay for your arrangements to travel to and from Miami. Beyond the Taylor Swift-themed festivities, Allure of the Seas is making two stops in the Bahamas during the In My Cruise Era voyage. Perfect Day at Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean's private island, has pools, water parks, and stunning beaches. Taylor Swift has inspired everything from university classes to a bench monument in Nashville and, now, a cruise.

Departing from the Port of Miami to the Bahamas on October 21, 2024, the "In My Cruise Era" is a must-add to a music lover's bucket list. The night before, on October 20, Swift is performing her last night at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. It's important to note that Taylor Swift is not affiliated with this cruise in any shape or form. In fact, Marvelous Mouse Travels, a travel agency primarily specializing in Disney vacations, is behind the expedition. As climate change continues to impact our day-to-day lives, it’s important to recognize the effects that cruises have on the environment. Though the cruise industry is working to offset their impacts, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Next year, Taylor Swift fans can embark on a cruise with fellow Swift fans on the Swiftie-led “In My Cruise Era” cruise, which will take place on the Royal Caribbean International ship. The four-night holidays for groups of eight to 16 guests cost from £2,155 per person, and flights are not included. Swifties can take their fandom onto the high seas with a new cruise holiday themed around US pop sensation Taylor Swift.

Marvelous Mouse Travels is earmarking cabins for guests who book the group cruise (though the themed sailing isn't endorsed by Swift). The cruise, on a Royal Caribbean ship, leaves for the Bahamas the day after Swift's final show of her three-day stop in Miami, departing from the Port of Miami on Oct. 21, 2024. Marvelous Mouse Travels travel agents Jessica Malerman, Nicole Rivera, and Shelby Reyes are organizing the fan-led cruise. The fare includes food and drinks such as coffee and tea, Swift-themed activities and more.

“In My Cruise Era” will take place over the course of four days and Swifties on the cruise can look forward to visiting Royal Caribbean’s Bahamas private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and Nassau. Taking place onboard Allure of the Seas, the trips sees organisers “working with Royal Caribbean planning Taylor events every night”, with exact details yet to be confirmed. The “In My Cruise Era” fan-sponsored cruise onboard Royal Caribbean International’s  Allure of the Seas may be taking place in late 2024, but the media frenzy over the four-night Bahamian sailing has taken the Swiftie world by storm. Some lucky Swifties will get the opportunity to say "Bon Voyage!" as they set sail on a cruise from their wildest dreams in October 2024.

3-Day Bahamas Cruise from Port Canaveral

carnival three day cruise

Most nights are designated "cruise casual," which means just that — khakis or jeans, polo shirts, sundresses and the like. Super casual items such as cutoff jeans, men's sleeveless shirts, T-shirts and gym shorts are supposedly not permitted, but I saw plenty of them in the dining rooms during dinnertime on Carnival Jubilee. Carnival Jubilee does not have a specific daytime dress code, and people dress casually. If it's a sea day in a warm-weather destination, and you're bound for the top deck, T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside) are just fine.

Day The Bahamas from Miami, FL

I also had a wonderful time at two special events — complimentary afternoon tea and an extra-fee Dr. Seuss-themed Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast — held in the Atlantic Restaurant. One of the best ways Carnival provides value to its customers is through its food offerings. Complimentary dining abounds on Carnival Jubilee, and the variety of cuisines is impressive. You'll find more free options on Carnival ships than on just about any other fleet's vessels, and they're actually tasty.

Onboard Activities

The menu has several types of meat — including steak, of course, as well as lamb chops and chicken — and seafood items like fish and lobster tail. It came alongside several sauces and sides of broccoli and crinkle-cut fries for $49 ($15 for kids). Another excellent dinner during my voyage occurred at Rudi's Seagrill (Deck 8), an upscale seafood restaurant named for chef and pop artist Rudi Sodamin. The lobster macaroni and cheese was the perfect indulgence to start my meal, and I followed it up with a delicious crab cake. Both serve the same menu for dinner, but only the larger Pacific Restaurant is open for Sea Day Brunch on sea days and breakfast (but not lunch) on port days. On the upper deck is the popular Guy's Burger Joint, which is oddly set a bit farther away from the action on Excel Class ships.

Vacation Deals

We're not just viewing this ship with rose-colored lenses, either — it's clear that the fun, eye-catching experiences all around you are the real deal... Even the fantasy world of Seuss At Sea™, where your favorite books (and characters!) come to life before your eyes. And from the people-watching potential of the Lido Deck, to the see-and-be-seen White Heat Dance Club, Carnival Glory pulls out the stops. It even shows its true colors as it satisfies your stomach with sit-down dining options like the Emerald Room Steakhouse and the aptly-named Golden and Platinum Restaurants. And wait 'till you see the Camel Club Casino — proof that Carnival Glory is a real looker and a truly special cruise ship. Carnival reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel.

Carry-on drinks policy

Plus, the space is a bit of a throwback to the days when interior designer and architect Joe Farcus was responsible for Carnival's ship decor. The decor is midcentury modern style meets '80s quirk, featuring a pink and teal color scheme, fun light fixtures and a bar with colored mirror accents. Other venues in the area include the Marina Bar for cocktails and coffee, complimentary Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano and for-fee seafood eatery Rudi's Seagrill, created by food pop artist chef Rudi Sodamin. Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals. With an overwhelming world of choices, we understand you may need some personal assistance to plan your perfect vacation. From finding the right destination to choosing the best departure date, we're here to help.

Related Cruises

Carnival Jubilee offers a full roundup of daily activities on each voyage. I'm not a huge drinker, so I didn't personally try cocktails from the Center Stage Bar (Deck 6) or Grand View Bar (Deck 7) in Grand Central. The former features a bit of a retro vibe, and the latter is backed by a giant light-up wall that looks like wave.

Day 2: Fun Day at Sea

Activities here are less structured, and participants can come and go as they please. Fun pursuits on the daily schedule might include arts and crafts, themed parties, science experiments, games and story time, depending on the age group. Prices vary by sailing, but on my voyage, they were $500 per day from 8 a.m. Pool lifts accommodating up to 300 pounds are available for passengers with limited mobility. There's also a hot tub at Loft 19 on Deck 19, which charges a fee for access. If you're interested in spending time outdoors working on your tan by the pool, you can do so at one of five onboard pools.

All types of smoking are forbidden in cabins and on cabin balconies. Carnival Jubilee passengers will automatically have $16 per person per day added to their onboard bills. (Children younger than 2 are exempt from gratuities.) An 18% gratuity is also added to bar and cafe bills, spa treatments and the cover charge of the Chef's Table.

Onboard Dining

Back inside, Deck 6's Piano Bar is where passengers can order a tipple while an onboard pianist tickles the ivories. Make your way up a deck, and you'll find the Limelight Lounge, which serves as a secondary performance space and trivia outpost. If you're seeking a between-meal snack or light bite, try the JavaBlue Cafe on Deck 6 in Grand Central. The cafe offers a sizable menu of specialty coffee beverages and tea, as well as free and for-fee snacks. In my experience, waiters were diligent in asking about dietary requirements and restrictions.

The adjacent fitness center is on the small side but features for-fee personal training and organized fitness classes, as well as equipment that's free for passengers to use. Shaq's Big Chicken, a restaurant backed by basketball great Shaquille O'Neal (who is also Carnival's CFO, chief fun officer), is perfect if you have a hankering for some fried chicken. In addition to chicken strips, sandwiches and fries, the counter-service venue also serves breakfast. Do yourself a favor and try the chicken and biscuit combo with fries.

When Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Jubilee debuted in December 2023, it became the third ship in the line's Excel Class, closely mimicking sister ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. Although there are more similarities than differences among the three, Carnival has still found a way to make Carnival Jubilee innovative and fun by tweaking a few of the offerings. Since we’re cruising, we only need to unpack once, with no washing required since it’s such a short jaunt. Cruises give you the chance to get out and about and try different places and activities without having to lug your bags around as you would if traveling by other modes of transport. With a fresh new year ahead of us, it’s never too early to start planning your travels.

Passengers link credit cards to their onboard accounts or put up a set amount of cash to charge against, using their keycards as a means of making purchases. The only time you might want to have some bills handy is for tipping your room steward, bartenders, room service delivery people, luggage porters or shore excursion guides. The second new show is the "Lone Star Tailgate." Drawing on Texas' love for all things football, Carnival has created four indoor/outdoor "quarters" of fun to mimic the four quarters of a football game. When I sailed, the first quarter, which is all about pool deck games for kids, was held on one sea day, and the other three were held on another sea day.

During "halftime," the ship's theater singers and dancers put on a show on the pool deck, dressed in team colors to support the fictional Carnival University — the team cruisers are supposedly cheering on during the festivities. Go one deck farther, and you can choose between the Havana Bar, which serves Latin-themed cocktails, and the Heroes Tribute Lounge, which has a special menu of drinks dedicated to military members. My favorite bar on Carnival Jubilee is the Marina Bar in The Shores zone on Deck 8. It offers a menu of adult beverages, but it also serves the same specialty coffees you'll find at JavaBlue, which often has a long line. With calming seafoam green and yellow decor alongside extras like Elemis toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, these are some of the most relaxing cabins on any ship.

On another night, I showed up on time for Family Feud Live in the ship's theater, and it was a standing-room-only situation. The sizes of the performance venues are generally way too small for the number of passengers wishing to watch the shows. Outside, the area continues with The Patio, which features a pool and hot tubs, and neighboring The Watering Hole, a bar that serves the space. The vessel offers weeklong Caribbean voyages on a regular rotation from its home port in Galveston, Texas, meaning you'll find a healthy dose of Texas-style fun on board (more on that later).
